Asia’s first inaugural business aviation exhibition is set for 2025

The team behind the Singapore Airshow plans to unveil the Business Aviation Asia Forum and Expo in 2025.

Experia Events, the mastermind behind the Singapore Airshow, has declared the initiation of the Business Aviation Asia Forum and Expo (BAAFEx), marking the first international exhibition in the Asia Pacific region exclusively focused on the business aviation sector. This biennial event is scheduled to take place from 4 – 6 March 2025 at the Changi Exhibition Centre.

The growth of business aviation in the Asia Pacific area, especially in Southeast Asia, has spurred a need for a specialized industry gathering. Research conducted by Asian Sky Group reveals that, by the end of 2023, the region’s fleet of business jets reached approximately 1,200, positioning it as the third-largest global market after North America and Europe.

BAAFEx will incorporate an exhibition and an industry forum, drawing participants from both the business and general aviation fields. Confirmed exhibitors include TAG Aviation, MedAire, Viasat, and the Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority.

Leck Chet Lam, managing director of Experia Events, stated: “We are excited to introduce BAAFEx, an event that will not only highlight the latest innovations in business and general aviation but also serve as a venue for industry leaders to unite and shape the future of both sectors.”

Market Expansion in Southeast Asia and Beyond

In Southeast Asia, Experia identifies Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand as the most developed markets. Leck also mentioned Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, which he noted now host locally based aircraft.

The company referenced Honeywell Aerospace’s latest market projection for the 2023 to 2033 timeframe, forecasting the delivery of 8,500 new business jets. The forecast indicates that 11% of these will be allotted to customers in Asia, which presently represents only 7% of the global fleet.
Data released by the Asian Sky Group highlighted that approximately 1,200 business aircraft were located in Asia-Pacific nations at the conclusion of 2023. Consequently, it stands as the third-largest market for business aircraft, trailing North America and Europe. WingX data revealed that business aircraft departures from Singapore last year surged by 28% compared to 2019.

“Beyond the fact that this exhibition is occurring in a significant and rapidly expanding region for business aviation, the other compelling aspect is Singapore itself,” Leck remarked. “Singapore is a premier global business aviation hub and a strategic business center that is well-connected to both the region and the world.”

Chinese High-Net-Worth Individuals Are Drawn to Singapore

“We are already seeing business owners and high-net-worth individuals from China arriving in Singapore,” Leck stated. “This is one of the most thrilling developments we have witnessed in Southeast Asia after the pandemic. Numerous businesses in China are broadening their horizons by investing in various Southeast Asian nations, including Singapore, Vietnam, and Thailand. Some have also established regional headquarters right here in Singapore.”

The sector has not experienced a dedicated trade show in the area since the last Asian Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition took place in Shanghai in 2019. The event’s principal organizer, the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), was forced to cancel the 2020 gathering due to Covid restrictions, and it has not been reinstated since, raising uncertainties about its potential return to China. In anticipation of next week’s NBAA-BACE show in Las Vegas, a representative from the U.S.-based organization mentioned that it is exploring possibilities for an event in Asia.
The Hong Kong-based Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA) serves as an official partner for BAAFEx. It is tasked with organizing the conference program for the event. AsBAA also acted as a co-organizer for ABACE.

AsBAA chairwoman, Jenny Lau, expresses: “AsBAA is thrilled to announce our backing for the Business Aviation Asia Forum & Expo set to take place in Singapore from March 4 to 6, 2025. It has been quite some time since we hosted an event specifically centered on business and general aviation, making this occasion especially meaningful. We expect that this expo will provide an outstanding opportunity to bring our business aviation and general aviation (BA/GA) community together. We eagerly anticipate seeing everyone at this remarkable event.”

The forum will span several days, during which industry leaders will share their perspectives on the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities in both general aviation and business aviation. This forum also establishes an ideal platform for aircraft buyers, operators, and suppliers to connect and collaborate.

The exhibition additionally provides networking opportunities, including exclusive receptions and business matchmaking sessions designed to enhance collaboration and partnerships.
