The Tata Group’s Air India has secured an order for 100 additional Airbus aircraft as part of its growth strategy.
This recent order includes 10 widebody A350s and 90 narrowbody A320 Family aircraft, specifically the A321neo model.
This acquisition adds to the firm orders of 470 aircraft that Air India made with Airbus and Boeing in the previous year.
A Strategic Expansion: Air India’s New Airbus Order
Air India’s total orders with Airbus now amount to 350: With this latest order, the total number of aircraft that Air India has requested from Airbus increases from 250 to 350. The earlier order of 250 placed last year included 40 A350s and 210 A320 Family aircraft. With this new addition, Air India is set to receive a remarkable total of 344 new aircraft from Airbus, having already taken delivery of six A350s.

“We see a compelling case for Air India to extend its future fleet beyond the firm orders of the 470 aircraft placed last year,” he stated.
The A350 and A320 Family: A Powerful Combination
The order encompasses both widebody and narrowbody aircraft. Air India has opted for 10 widebody Airbus A350 aircraft, marking a significant advancement in its modernization efforts. In conjunction with the acquisition of 100 new Airbus aircraft, Air India has entered into a contract with Airbus for its Flight Hour Services-Component (FHS-C). The FHS-C service encompasses extensive engineering support and integrated component assistance, enabling Air India to keep its fleet in peak condition and reduce operational interruptions.
